Adrian Webb
G’day, I’m the Manager of Virtual Worlds at the Australian Defence Simulation and Training Centre (ADSTC). My role is looking at how Defence can better utilise technologies and capabilities from all walks of life to create a more engaged and prepared future workforce. It can be summed up as being an unbiased evangelist inside Defence (and the wider commonwealth) for new and emerging technologies, and practices.
This involves understanding products and systems capabilities, their limitation and discovering the best solution for the problem at hand. This is particularly focused within the simulation, VR, AR/MR and serious games space. My personal mission is to bring the simulation and gaming industries closer together, aiding to create an Australian grown revolution and talent pool.
I’m been involved with the Serious Games Showcase and Challenge Australasia since 2014, helping out with Serious Games Australia and New Zealand (SGANZ), and was privileged to be recognised in the MCV Pacific 30 under 30 for 2016 and recently the simulation achievement award for major contribution within Simulation and Serious games in our region. This year is my 11th GCAP as both a student, and industry rep. I’m always amazed at what I learn and who I meet at GCAP, so please feel free to strike up a conversation with me.
