After his graduation at Art School in 2008, Sjoerd started, together with four co-founders, the award-
winning game development company Monobanda. Monobanda was specialised in projects that
combine virtual and tangible elements. Sjoerd was the CEO of the company and responsible for
acquiring new projects and clients. Monobanda was a project-based company, one of the projects was
joining a research consortium, together with future business partner Hester LeRiche in her PhD
research project. This eventually led to the product Tovertafel and the company Active Cues. Active
Cues is a serious game and medtech company, that has not only won multiple awards, but has grown
in just a few years from a three-person operation into a 50+ company, active in 10+ countries. All
without any funding or investors.

During all his years of entrepreneurship, Sjoerd has developed a wide set of entrepreneurial,
presentation and networking skills. From both a professional and a personal view, Sjoerd has
developed a large interest in international business and culture. He uses these skills and interests for
his current position as International New Business Developer at Active Cues.
